Quilt Concert 2021 - First Notes

First Notes is the inaugural quilt in the annual Quilt Concert Series. A dozen traditional blocks are combined with four original designs to create this contemporary sampler quilt that embraces alternative grid work.

Finished Quilt Size: 48”x 60”
Finished Block Sizes range from 6”x 6” to 24”x 24”

Skill Level: Beginner

Techniques covered in this pattern include: two-at-a-time and eight-at-a-time half square triangles, four-at-a-time flying geese, strip piecing, stitch-and-flip, rotating seam allowances (link to a video tutorial is included), and the use of templates.

Fabric Requirements for Quilt Concert: First Notes
Fabric A (blue): 1-3/4 yards
Fabric B (red): 1 yard
Fabric C (pink): 3/4 yard
Fabric D (orange): 3/4 yard
Fabric E (violet): 3/4 yard

Backing: 3-1/3 yard of 40” wide fabric OR 1-2/3 yard wide back fabric
Binding: 1/2 yard fabric

This pattern is a PDF download. Two pages with templates must be printed. Print templates at 100% or “actual size” in order to construct the blocks. Templates print in black and white on letter size (8-1/2”x 11”) paper.
