Collection: Cotton and Coffee Design House

Hi, I'm Linda Lawson... I’ve been sewing since I was a tweenager and never dreamed I would still be doing what I love at this stage in my life. As a young child in the 60’s, my paternal grandparents owned a beautiful farm in central Tennessee. My earliest memories of their farmhouse was remembering a crib in a back bedroom my sister and I use to stay in when visiting. I was the youngest grandchild, so the crib was no longer needed for its original purpose. Instead, it was filled with folded up quilts my grandmother had made over many years. She died when I was young and never really was able to know her, but the images of her quilts, overflowing in that crib, have been seared in my memory for a lifetime.

Throughout the years I’ve always been involved with textiles in some form or another. In my former life I've owned a bridal-wear business, did a stint in a tailor shop, was a nationally published interior designer, and a A-1 longarm and Intelliquilter dealer. Presently I have a line of digital longarm designs out on the market and own a very busy t-shirt quilt business with my husband. My love of design and textiles goes deep and is in my blood.

I’ve been writing quilt patterns in my head for a very long time. I can’t count the many, many quilt designs that have popped out of my head that I’ve turned into quilts over the years. But recently I took some formal training to learn how to map my ideas into concise steps for the quilt’s construction and my first pattern was born.

My plan is for my designs to consist of lots of chain-piecing. I do this intentionally to create a relaxed state of mind when making the quilts. There’s nothing better than to get lost listening to a good book or music and before you know it, you have a good portion of the quilt finished. I’m not into making you think lol… My goal is for every person that buys my patterns to truly have a joyful journey while making their very own masterpiece.
